Dirty Minds of Americans (and Dems & Pubes)

So a lot is being made of the Trump Pence logo. (Not that there are more important things to talk about, like race wars, ambushing cops and kids being shot)

Are we so shallow and small minded that everything has to have a sexual connotation? Sure, I did that when I was in my teens and I had raging hormones. But as an adult, I would much rather hear more about the topics of the general election. You know, how to fix the economy, get people (like me) back to work (instead of blogging), and yeah, how to improve human to human relations.

Instead we get this from our (Ding-y) lawmakers and (Full Frontal) TV hostess – as seen on Yahoo news:

Several commenters, including Full Frontal host Samantha Bee, took the observation a step further and turned the logo into a sexually suggestive GIFs.”

In case you (somehow) missed it, The logo has a “T” and a “P” together, with the “T” going through the hole of the “P”. Kind of a unity thing, I thought. Kind of a way to bring things together. (As is urgently needed in this country … and world. But I digress).

But No. Instead, the media jumps on the childish sexual innuendo bandwagon. But I suppose thats about right. The media is all about petty sensationalism and trivial standards, speaking to the 8-18 crowd, that is in fact so infatuated with sex.

Maybe instead of pandering to the lower intelligence of America (hello Jerry Springer and Judge Judy) we could raise the bar just a wee bit higher? Actually talk about things that matter in this election and this world? You know, like world peace, a balanced budget, demolishing racism or not sending food or aid to terroristic countries? (or any other country, for that matter, until we get our OWN financial house in order).

I mean, hey, I’m just spitballing here, but maybe, just maybe, if the News organizations would actually cover subjects of interest, and speak like college graduates, more people might watch and listen to what they have to say? Instead those news organizations seeing their ratings drop lower and lower, they could, I don’t know, help America become MORE educated?

They say the best way to learn a new language is to immerse oneself in the culture. In essence being forced to learn the native language. Either that or walk around like a bumbling idiot. (Like a lot of folks do every day).images Admittedly, the first thing I thought of when I saw the logo -TP- was Toilet Paper. Which isn’t far off from what I think about politicians in general, and the media in ‘hole’.

Just a little ‘Lube’ for thought.

  1. It’s part of the continuing narrative that the Trump campaign is disorganized. In this case, the master of branding hadn’t even run the logo past a focus group to check vulnerabilities. You may not perceive it as having any sexual connotations, but it’s very much a corporate style of logo, making the symbol of the US flag subservient to the “TP” team initials. Also, since Clinton’s H-with-arrow logo was previously pilloried, you have to expect folks in the opposition to do the same with this logo.
